Honouring National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

On September 30, IG Wealth Management will join Canada’s public service departments, educational institutions, businesses and other organizations across the country to recognize the second annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

This day encourages Canadians to stand in solidarity with First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities as we grieve the children that were wrongfully taken from their homes and institutionalized in Canada’s residential school system.

IG Wealth Management has committed to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Call to Action #92. This specifically invites organizations to:

“Provide education for management and staff on the history of Aboriginal peoples, including the history and legacy of residential schools, the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, Treaties and Aboriginal rights, Indigenous law, and Aboriginal–Crown relations. This will require skills-based training in intercultural competency, conflict resolution, human rights, and anti-racism.”

In honoring this commitment, we recognize September 30 as a day of reflection, and invite IG Wealth Management clients to attend a virtual webinar hosted by our IG Wealth Management partner, the Downie Wenjack Fund

IG Wealth Management is committed to advancing reconciliation across our business and in the communities we serve. Effective reconciliation takes collective effort, and we hope that as many of you who can will also join us and take steps towards furthering your reconciliation journey.
